Subway tile
70's - 80's

description: aluminum decoration - originally anti-aluminum cladding for metro stations. Lacquered aluminum sheet, pressed. Concave lens. The author, Jaroslav Votruba, was the chief architect of the Prague metro. The cladding was primarily intended as a sound barrier for the arrival of a train set. Precisely because of its acoustic and aesthetic values, these moldings later appeared on various construction sites throughout Czechoslovakia. One of the buildings was the House of Culture in Šternberk, where these identically shaped tiles come from. novretro classic - last 3 pieces
